Position Summary:

Lean manufacturing engineering is a fundamental process of the Plant Operation, focused to improve the overall value through waste elimination across the supply chain to obtain the best results. This position focuses at the same level on getting results in an efficient (optimizing resources) and effective manner (achieving expected results), challenging the current way to do thing and getting engagement of the workforce on standard work as the fundamental piece to improve the operation to achieve results meeting safety, quality and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

The lean manufacturing engineer leads and deploys best practices in the operation improving material and information flow relentlessly. He/she works with Operation and Department leaders to obtain the established goals and objectives for the Plant. He/she leads, facilitates, executes and manages kaizens and/or projects to reduce the costs using Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies. Key responsibilities / essential functions are listed below but not limited to:

• To lead the Value Stream Mapping for the Plant to identify opportunities to eliminate waste and create an annual improvement plan.
• To work together with the network to support and drive the lean culture as business system for the Company under the effort of the National Lean Program Leader.
• To propose and get approval on changes required to optimize material and information flow, working collaboratively with plant and organization stakeholders.
• To develop methods that would help in reducing the cost without compromising on safety or the quality standards to ensure increased efficiency and quality and make recommendations.
• To prepare and maintain pertinent technical and training documentation related to the kaizen improvements to sustain results.
• To present data driven justification on the improvements to support capital related projects, provide an update tracking of the savings achieved (hard / soft savings, cost avoidance, etc.)
• To train employees (new and existing) to support the engagement on the improvements using lean methodologies to increase the productivity.
• To determine the root causes for those system inefficiencies and failures and makes recommendations for changes in designs and the related processing methodologies

Essential Skills and Abilities:

Change management, keep updated on lean principles and developments, strong time management and well organized, very strong oral and written communication, planning and implementation skills, mentor and coach to influence his leadership across the company, data analysis to provide meaningful information for the decision making process, proficient in computer skills.

Educational Background:

The person should have completed a bachelor's degree, preferred in Engineering, demonstrated knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma across the supply chain, not only manufacturing, knowledge should be supported with formal training.


Minimum of 3-5 yrs. of professional experience, desired experience as project management, must have at least of 3 yrs. demonstrated experience on lean and six sigma application, this position may require periodic travel to other sites to assist on kaizens.

Business: Harvest Hill Beverages Company ("HHBC") markets, produces and sells beverages under the SunnyD, Juicy Juice, Little Hug, Veryfine, Fruit2O, Nutrament and Daily's brand names in North America. The beverages are sold through grocery, mass, club, dollar, convenience and other similar retail outlets. SunnyD is located primarily in the chilled dairy section of retail outlets while Juicy Juice and Hug are located in the ambient juice section. Revenue of HHBC is approximately $800 million. The companies generate solid cash flow, which is used to pay down debt, invest in innovative products and return cash to owners. Brynwood Partners, the private equity owner, expects to stabilize revenue while reducing costs. Once the goals are accomplished, the owners will attempt to the sell the company as platform for future growth to a domestic or international strategic investor, another private equity investor or to the public.
