Job Description:
Summary:
The primary functions of this role are to operate all boilers and all plant utilities systems. Monitors and maintains all equipment to insure systems support production requirements.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

• Operates and maintains all boilers and utilities systems equipment using both automatic and manual control systems. Systems include Site Fire Protection, HVAC, Wastewater, and Process Water.
• Monitors/Maintains all systems to insure proper centerlines are maintained (pressure, temperatures, speeds, etc.)
• Insures that all equipment is properly maintained and performs repairs, sampling, testing, and calibrating as needed.
• Tests boiler water daily, adds required chemicals to each respective chemical holding tank for each boiler and deaerator, records chemical test results to maintain proper chemical residual levels in boilers and deaerator and performs necessary maintenance and repairs to all chemical feed systems.
• Tests daily all utilities process safety equipment to insure proper operation.
• Keeps a daily logbook and records all equipment running, repairs made and any important information on the shift.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment break downs to root cause
• Owns operating area operating procedures, skills sets and work process standardization
• Flow to work to maintain and improve facilities integration with operating teams
• Support and help drive overall results for the plant goals in Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, Workplace Excellence, and Sustainability
• Performs necessary steps to ensure Personnel Safety, Quality and Food Safety.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

• Work indoors and outdoors in the seasonal ranges of temperature and humidity
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Climb stairs, ladders, platforms, etc., on equipment, tanks and / or building structures for the purposes of inspecting, operating, maintaining and troubleshooting
• Paint, remodel, and refurbish areas as needed
• Repair, maintain/monitor all equipment and amenities
• Change of all filters for HVAC as required
• Change light bulbs, interior and exterior, as needed.
• On call maintenance for all facilities, 24/7.
• Maintain exterior property, including snow removal, lawn care (mow, weed eat, trim hedges) and other exterior duties as needed.
• Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and wear sanitary protective clothing (example: coveralls, hairnets, bead covers).
• Comply with all Plant Safe Practices.
• Learn and retain technical details and terminology, the functions and repair of machine components, the details and process of technical and administrative systems and the inter-relationships between systems.
• Function effectively within a team of Technicians and Managers in the areas of: Basic communication, Priority setting, Conflict resolution, Problem solving, Feedback (giving & receiving), Teamwork, Goal setting, Time management, Personal accountability.
• Work rotating shifts (up to 12 hour) in a variety of schedule configurations including nights and weekends, and occasional overtime.
• Maintain an acceptable attendance record.

Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED

• Experience and demonstrated technical, interpersonal and leadership skills to train other technicians on the technical aspects of equipment and maintenance (cleaning, inspection, lubrication) to maximize equipment efficiency and reliability.
• Personal computer skills
• Proficient technical reading and math ability
• Schedule flexibility, weekends and on call
• Broad technical skills with moderate depth
• High School Diploma or equivalent

DESIRED

• Prefer 3 years experience with operation / maintenance of one or more of the below systems:
• boilers
• waste water
• chilled water
• cooling towers
• compressed air
