The Site Engineer is responsible for project planning and coordination; capital management, and all capital reporting to Corporate Engineering in order to meet deadlines and requirements. He/she is also a member of the Plant technical team that drives initiatives to eliminate waste and improve overall technical capability for the operating teams, and subsequently for the site.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
• Leading all capital management activities at the site:
o Create and maintain a list of capital projects
o Justify and acquire capital funding in accordance with SDBC guidelines for cost reduction or cost elimination projects.
o Insure that construction permits are proactively secured when required.
o Insure that project teams are properly staffed to ensure that the project can deliver capable equipment, people, methods & materials. Proactively addresses gaps in any of these areas.
• Provide technical leadership and information necessary to insure equipment installed at ST is capable of meeting the product, process, maintainability, safety and quality requirements.
• Responsible for using tracking tools to meet project deliverables (cost, schedule adherence, performance), meeting local, state and federal regulations / permits in adherence with HHBC policies and will train team members on project execution.
• The Site Engineer works with Lean /Productivity Manager, Technical Manager, and Operations/Production Manager to:
o Develop and implement plant-initiated projects for waste elimination.
o Insure standard work is developed and implemented for all capital projects to effectively improve plant efficiency.
• Point of contact with Equipment Vendors and specialized contractors, acting with the necessary sense of urgency to resolve critical issues affecting plant performance.
• Support day to day results while managing the short, medium, and long-term vision and project work.
• Responsible for the site's performance in Construction Safety, Construction Cost & use of HUB contractors to meet category objectives in each area.
• Responsible for using the proper tracking tools for insuring that all projects are completed on targeted timing at target cost. (Capital Cost Management, Project Schedule, Issues List Development & tracking)
• Responsible for Site Budget Capital Funds.
• Responsible for insuring that no capital projects are either overcommitted or overspent and take proactive steps to reconcile a gap. Insure that all capital systems are closed out in a timely fashion.
• Training & coaching of others at the site in project execution.
• Operate effectively in a team-based, lean, and flat organization.
• Report immediately to your Site Quality Leader and Operations Leader all conditions that may pose a risk to product food safety and/or quality. Food Safety is Everyone's Responsibility.

Position Qualifications:
• Proficient technical reading and math ability.
• Project management: justification, scoping, planning, executing and controlling.
• Personal computer skills in line with requirements: AutoCAD, Office, ErPortal/Axapta, etc. RSLogix and Wonderware experience are a plus
• Strong problem solving and communication skills (oral and written).
• Work well under pressure with minimum supervision, outstanding time management (prioritization and organizations skills)
• Continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to provide leadership and training in a team-based environment. A proven track record of success using the servant leadership philosophy.
• Specific experience in applying lean concepts in a process environment is required. Strong knowledge and experience in tools such as change management, TPM, changeovers, visual controls, kaizen, etc., is required.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.
• Computer skills required: Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook, VISIO), Internet research skills
• Outstanding time management/prioritization and organization skills required.
• Willing to travel 10-20% of the time.
• Exposure to Lean tools: kaizen participation, VSM understanding, waste identification and elimination, etc.

Previous experience managing/coordinating both plant resources and external contractors to execute work at site

• This individual will be expected to flex his/her working hours to meet business needs, including but not limited to work on weekends, holidays, on call, etc.
• This role will report to the Plant Manager and will act as contact for Central Engineering related needs.
