Position Summary:

The Technical Manager is integral to the overall development and success of the Atlanta, Ga plant. The Technical Manager directly impacts the bottom line for the operation by effectively managing maintenance resources, capital projects, optimization of current systems to improve productivity, and the launch of new product. The Technical Manager reports directly to the Texas Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions:

The Technical Manager is a key part of the leadership team for the site. He / she is responsible for planning and executing technical and cost savings initiatives at the site using a combination of internal and external resources. The Technical Manager will also ensure there are effective skill development, coaching and leadership provided to the Texas maintenance and operations teams. The Technical Manager will also support other plants and company-wide projects / initiatives as needed by closely partnering with Corporate Engineering resources.
Key responsibilities are listed below and include:

• Provide technical leadership and coordination of Feasibility Studies (C&F's), production cost estimates for P&L, and Experimental Orders (EO) for new items.
• Coordinate and supervise AM / PM / E&I / Site Engineering / Stock Room leaders to best use technical resources, ensure training, and actively manage the development and capability of Technicians at every level.
• Promote and enhance the maintenance function in collaboration with the Production Operation Manager/Leader, to become a Predictive Maintenance Organization while keeping the costs in control or better than budget. Key focus will be to educate and train the operation technicians on maintenance practices and skills.
• Lead the site capital budget process. Identify and prioritize capital needs for Atlanta, Ga, and manage annual plan from initial budget through the execution. Close out of each project effectively and in a timely manner.
• Facilitate the generation of savings and productivity initiatives that increase equipment reliability and reduce cost.
• Conduct data analysis as required to prioritize projects and track each with focus on equipment reliability and improving utilization to eliminate unplanned downtime.
• Serve as project manager, ensuring compliance with prescribed budget parameters, timeline execution, scope adherence and applicable policies.
• Facilitate formal training of all new processes and equipment brought into the plant.
• Serve as budget owner, develop and execute improved controls over for accounting reports related to equipment maintenance and parts supply. Work with facilities maintenance to improve the operation and impact to the bottom-line.
• Manage stockroom parts inventory and efficiency, have a working knowledge of ER Portal, and establish KPI's with stock room leader to better manage (Inventory $, stock out %, etc.)
• Lead continuous improvement efforts with our vendors regarding service, cost effectiveness and responsiveness.
• Lead the standard work approach to all technical systems and drive process improvement.
• Lead Kaizen efforts to reduce all forms of waste.

Quality / Safety:

• Immediately report to Site Quality Leader all conditions that may pose a risk to product food safety and/or quality. Food Safety is everyone's Responsibility.
• Responsible for maintenance safety and regulatory compliance, which includes record keeping

Site leadership and direction setting:

• Serve as a key contributor to site direction setting as co-facilitator of the site leadership team.
• Support and drive overall results for the plant: Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Delivery, and Morale.
• Lead and drive improvement to plant Daily Management Systems (DMS).
• Coordinate, prepare and deliver site performance reports as required.
• Lead with communications to stake holders on all initiatives and projects.
• Make recommendations for positive change, involving process redesign and supply chain effectiveness.
• Be prepared to serve as the back up to the plant manager in his absence.
• Support day-to-day results by flowing to the work in addition to the medium and long-term project work.
• Other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications:
Qualifications Essential Skills and Abilities:

Proven management skills that drive results while engaging direct and indirect reports to achieve the desired outcome, experience in managing and coordinating multiple complex projects, strong planning and organizational skills, lead change agent. Coach, lead and develop leaders in the organization to ensure results improvement focus and contribution. Continually assess and evaluate skills and contributions of employees to understand gaps vs. required results.

Educational Background:

The person should have +10 yrs. of experience in related technical areas (Mechanical, E&I, Operation) with successful track record of achievement, commensurate work and leadership experience with progressive and expanding roles and responsibilities or completed a bachelor's degree, preferred in Engineering, demonstrated knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma across the supply chain.

Requirements:

Minimum of 5 yrs. of managerial experience in Food and Beverage, experience as project management, this position may require periodic travel to other sites to assist on kaizens or projects, working knowledge of FDA, SQF, HACCP, OSHA and GMP regulations, working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Autocad, Rockwell and Wonderware programming software for controls and instrumentation.
